Niyaz Najafov is an Azerbaijani artist. Niyaz Najafov's career in sports, which smoothly turned into alcohol and drug addiction, imprisonment and prolonged depression - metamorphosis, which eventually led him to art. The white canvas became a kind of salvation, because it, like nothing else, helps to free oneself. And now this once lost man is one of the sought-after artists both in his homeland and in Paris, where he has been living for six and a half years. In 2009, he represented Azerbaijan at the 53rd Venice Biennale of Contemporary Art. He works in easel painting and as a street artist. Inspired by other self-taught artists such as Paul Gauguin and Francis Bacon, it was not until 2003 that he began experimenting with oil paints.
